As you can see, when light rays pass through a concave lens, the rays come together. The word "diverge" means to they keep on the same path. As you can see, when light rays pass through a concave lens, the rays keep on the same path.	Concave lenses produce a virtual image because the light rays are not focused at the principal focus. In fact the light rays only appear to be focused at the principal focus. If we placed a screen at the principal focus, we would not see an image on the screen.
